The food is very poor and often served cold. The beds mostly are partially operative. There are no activities on a regular basis. The tv in dining room is broken and they haven’t had anyone look at it. In my room when I left it still did not have cable box hooked up.
Spring Haven Retirement was a very nice facility, having all 3 different types of care really enhanced their ability, and that's why we wanted to look at it. They had very nice facilities, it seemed a little large, it seemed like the staff was adequate, and they had a lot of activities. The staff was very good, very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The dining area looked very nice, but there was no food service at the time. Our short-term guests enjoy all the amenities, services, and meals alongside our permanent residents and often times make long-lasting friendships and connections.

Winter Haven Senior Center provides seniors ages 50 and older with a wide range of activities and recreational programs. These include games, classes, social groups, music, motivational speakers and holiday parties. The center has 24 shuffleboard courts and an auditorium for special events.

There are many and varied daily activities for the residents, from a movie theater to live entertainment and festivities and everything in between. The room our Mom was in was semi-private, which was never an issue, and extremely clean. In a difficult business, under difficult situations, they were saints.

Please continue to wear your mask when visiting and sanitize your hands often. We will continue to follow the recommendations as set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention . My grandma was there and it was great. My mom and I felt comfortable with her there. They were clean and offered alot of activities.
My in laws are at Spring Haven for a month now. The staff so far are very nice and helpful. My husband and I visited this facility a few times and found it to be a beautiful and pleasant place in which to live. However, as my husband uses a power chair for mobility, we found the hallways too narrow for two such chairs to pass.

The encompassing area has a dense population, with around 29,000 people residing in the zip code. Winter Haven has a variety of resources for seniors who prefer to age in place and delay treatment in a nursing home. There are also resources to assist those to live healthier lives in long-term care. Soon as you enter the smell of human urine and feces hits you,I shared 1 bath with 6 people.
They have 132 beds and a daily average of 122.8 residents . Spring Lake Rehabilitation Center participates in Medicare and Medicaid and are classified as a For profit - Corporation ownership. They offer both family and residential councils. They are not located inside a hospital. They do not belong to a continuing care community. Most nursing homes in Winter Haven, FL offer skilled nursing, post acute care and inpatient rehab for the elderly.
With the help of a Spring Lake nurse who prayed with me to overcome my anxieties both before and after the amputation surgery, I again rehabbed successfully at Spring Lake. In February of 2021 I tripped and “Fell Up” our home entrance steps and cracked a shoulder bone. (No I was stark sober!) Surgery was not required but rehab was so it was back to Spring Lake Rehab. Just a month and a half later I learned I had lung cancer. The top lobe of my left lung was removed.
My mom as many inside the facility contracted Covid. We received the call on a Friday of the news she tested positive. Family called daily multiples throughout the day to get updates on her status. Seven days later the call came and we were told our mom had transitioned. The shock and disbelief to hear this. When questioning the nurse what happened her response in the most uncaring tone was weren’t you expecting this.
One would have to move out of the way for others to pass. This may present a safety hazard, but I'm sure it would be addressed by staff. The amenities that were furnished included everything one would need to live comfortably. The location is perfect for going shopping, doctors, hospital, etc. The staff was great to work with and very caring. My mother-in-law would have gotten lost and confused with the different floors and all.
